[i2c] How to use an i2c device from different drivers at the same time

Hi,

i have two Philips PCA 9539 16 bit I/O expander on my development board and i am running kernel 2.6.15. I have to use both devices from 
two different drivers at the same time. How do i access these devices from the driver and hwo do i register them succesfully as a ic2-client ?
Shall i write a simple driver, which registers this chip and gives access to this device? How can i use this simple driver and its functions from another driver ?
