I got plenty of warnings, but not from these patches. :)
Other than wanting to avoid the time for a complete build (about 7x longer
than normal builds) and to fix the resulting issues, I think I was avoiding
doing that extra work until I got a feeling for whether or not it'd get
accepted ... I really dislike the extra work associated with this kind of
"whole tree" change.

Well, I sent you updates to two of them, and the corresponding update
to the fifth. Those changes broke one of the patches in "part II" but
that was only in minor ways.
