It doesn't.  I got v2.6.19-rc6 out of git, applied the above patch, and 
applied the patchset, and it still fails on patch 9.  Where is 
i2c_do_add_adapter() supposed to come from?  It's not in 2.6.19-rc6, 
it's not in the whitespace patch (of course), and it's not added by this 
patchset.  It is, however, referred to as context by patch 9.

That was just the first of numerous failed hunks in patch 9; was there 
supposed to be another patch in the set that got left out?
