That's the point of Jean's suggestion.  Though I'd be tempted
to just create a new non-legacy driver there.

I'm not sure what the point would be.  What information would that
hold, which shouldn't be part of the driver, its Kconfig entry, or
its <linux/i2c/pca953x.h> kerneldoc?
