Hi all,
A few months ago, I decided to split the i2c tools for Linux from the
lm-sensors package:
http://lists.lm-sensors.org/pipermail/i2c/2007-June/001528.html
This is now a reality, and I am about to release the first version of
the i2c-tools package. This package contains:
* EEPROM decoding scripts for the most common types of EEPROMs found in
PC, in particular SPD EEPROM on memory modules and EDID EEPROM in
monitors.
* EEPROM writing programs (not installed by default).
* Header files for accessing I2C devices from user-space (through
i2c-dev.)
* Python module for i2c-dev access (not installed by default).
* I2C bus probing and I2C device dump programs.
A SVN snapshot is available for download:
http://dl.lm-sensors.org/i2c-tools/snapshots/i2c-tools-r4909-20070930.tar.bz2
I would appreciate if people interested in these tools could download
and test the package now, and report how it works for them. Suggestions
for improvements are welcome, and patches implementing these even more
so.
The planed release date for i2c-tools 3.0.0 is October 15th, 2007.
Thanks,
