I have some info on the Abit µGuru chip for you, & more specifically the
Abit AN7 mobo.
It seems the way Abit have done things on Guru-equipped boards, is to use a
normal sensor, but then presumably the data from that is passed through the
Guru chip, so that if a prog tries to read the normal [Winbond W83627HF]
chip it comes up with nothing. Well, almost nothing.

Although I recently installed Mandrake 10 just to see what it was like & get
to know it a bit, I mostly use XP [dual boot]. Motherboard Monitor failed to
see anything when it did a dump of the different busses, and although
Speedfan wasn't able to rcognise any sensors well enough to use them it did
see /something/. I don't know if it'll be any use, but it's pasted in at the
end of this email, just in case. [I may be wrong, but I figured that whilst
Linux & XP are 2 very different OSs, dumps of the hardware busses might
still be of use]

I found a review of the AN7 where a guy had actually peeled off the µGuru
sticker & discovered that it is a Winbond W83L950D. The guy was also nice
enough to track down the data sheet [linkage below]. Apparently it's some
sort of micro processor with flash memory or something, so that data sheet
will only give the Winbond specs for it, not any details about what Abit
have programmed into it.

I know you guys are linux programmers, but if neither the data sheet or the
dump from SpeedFan are of any use, I can email you a disassembled version of
Abit's prog. [the disassembled version of it zips down to just under 1MB].

I don't know if all the Guru-equipped boards have the same monitoring chip,
or if the exact same chip is used for the Guru on the other Guru-equipped
boards, but it could well be [others include the Abit KV8, KV8-MAX3, and the
AI7].

I'm willing to be a guinea pig for any code you want to test, or if you have
some sort of memory/bus scanning prog you want me to run. 1 thing though -
I'm a total linux newbie, & have spent hardly any time on it, & know
virtually nothing about the commands & useage of the linux console, so
please bear that in mind when giving me any instructions.

Also, if it's not too big an ask - if you manage to figure out how to
access/read the hardware info from the Guru/AN7 could you give me the
relevant details, eg the memory/bus addresses or whatever so that I can pass
them on to the guy who makes MBM for windows, as Abit's prog is really bad,
even for a windows prog. :-)
